Version 6.30 released - improved reliability and expanded integration capabilities
The latest SMSEagle software update introduces numerous improvements that enhance system reliability, flexibility, and everyday usability. The update focuses particularly on automation, monitoring, and high availability, making the platform even better suited for industrial and critical infrastructure environments.
🔹Industrial integration: Modbus TCP support
One of the most important new features is Modbus TCP support in the Network Monitoring module, enabling direct monitoring of industrial devices.
The system can read values from Modbus registers and automatically trigger SMS or voice call alerts when predefined conditions are met. This is especially useful for monitoring PLCs, SCADA systems, sensors, and other industrial automation equipment.
🔹Advanced SMS traffic control
The previous blacklist feature has been replaced with a new Allow / Deny List mechanism, which provides unified management of incoming and outgoing SMS communication.
Two operating modes are available:
Allow Selected – only specified phone numbers or ranges can communicate with the system
Deny Selected – all numbers are allowed except those on the deny list
This approach provides greater flexibility and more precise control in security-sensitive environments.
🔹Easier installation and clearer communicaion management
A new configuration wizard assists with the initial setup and guides users step-by-step through essential settings such as SIM configuration or time zone selection.
Email handling has also been improved. The “E-mail Conversation” feature displays incoming and outgoing emails in a conversation view, making it easier to track the complete communication history.
🔹Expanded API and system monitoring
The update significantly extends APIv2 functionality, introducing new endpoints for example:
Digital I/O control
retrieving system information and statistics
temperature monitoring
service health checks (HA cluster, SNMP, MQTT, SMPP)
These improvements make it even easier to integrate SMSEagle into complex infrastructures and automated systems.
🔹Additional improvements for stable operation
Version 6.30 also includes several smaller but important enhancements that improve stability and usability, including:
IP-based access control for protecting the web interface and API
SMS notifications for HA cluster status changes
new workflow triggers for message events
dynamic email recipient management for automations
webhook integrations with flexible HTTP response handling
stability updates for WhatsApp integration
Together, these improvements significantly enhance system integration, monitoring capabilities, and the overall user experience.
New SMSEagle expansion module coming soon
SMSEagle will soon introduce a new hardware expansion module that further extends the platform’s industrial integration capabilities.
The new module is designed for NXS and MHD devices and significantly increases the system’s digital input and output capacity. The additional I/O ports provide greater flexibility when integrating external devices and systems and enable new possibilities for handling physical signals and events.
This development is particularly valuable in environments where the communication system must directly interact with other infrastructures, such as:
