Future-proof solution for office building modernization – Implementation of Wireless Modbus technology with the contribution of BAVAR Ltd.

The modernization of the building automation system of a five-story office building posed unique challenges for the professionals involved: the existing system had to be upgraded quickly, without interfering with the cabling or disrupting daily operations. The solution came in the form of LumenRadio's W-Modbus technology.

The Challenge?
Modernizing the system without intrusive work or interrupting day-to-day operations!
The biggest challenge during the building’s modernization was that:
The rooms had to remain in continuous use.
Cabling work involving dust, noise, or wall demolition was not an option.
Integrating the fan coil controllers into a new communication network would have been difficult to achieve with a wired system.
A flexible solution was needed — one that required minimal intervention!
THE KEY: LumenRadio’s W-Modbus technology!
To meet the project requirements, LumenRadio’s W-Modbus wireless solution was deployed.
The key reasons for choosing this technology included:
✔ Pre-assembled control boxes prepared off-site, minimizing on-site labor
✔ Plug-and-play installation for fast and hassle-free commissioning
✔ No need for additional cabling, preserving the existing infrastructure
The current system includes a total of 20 W-Modbus modules. Six modules are installed on the ground floor, another six on the first floor, six more on the third floor, and two on the fourth floor — including the distribution cabinet. However, the system is not yet final: in the near future, it is planned to expand with seven additional devices to serve a chiller unit and six rooms.

LumenRadio’s W-Modbus technology brought a real breakthrough to the building’s automation upgrade. By going wireless, the team was able to speed up implementation significantly while keeping the process smooth, flexible, and completely non-intrusive — no demolition, no rewiring, no disruptions.
